San Francisco duo Vin Sol and Johnny Five, aka Triple Five Sol, unveil their Puppy Cuts imprint with the ‘Sounds From The Pound Vol.1’ EP. It follows their debut EP release on Dark Entries in 2025 and their appearance on a Nervous Records compilation in 2024. “Puppy Cuts is my new label with Five. After our last record on Dark Entries we decided to start our new label. Deep house and acid steeped in New York Chicago and Detroit vibes” - Vin Sol Triple Five Sol’s ‘Sounds From The Pound Vol. 1’ kicks off with ‘Blocked’, a stripped-back groover with an understated 303 offset by chopped-up gospel samples, before culminating in a jacking vibe. ‘Come Over Mackin’ is next, deep and soulful chords weave through tough drums marked by rimshots saturated in reverb, before the crushed up pads and grainy rhythm of ‘Grocery Bag’ continues. ‘Roll Models’ then closes primed for the dancefloor with an irresistible organ bassline doused in a sustained, dub-like chord, along with more vocals full of feeling.
